5G AND WHAT IT HAS TO OFFER
The world of technology has traveled a long way, it is growing day by day and
growing rather fast. We all are familiar with 4G mobile network which is being used by everyone these days, but the next era of mobile networks which is known as 5G, the 5th generation of wireless systems is not far.Unlike 4G which is focuses on faster peak internet connection speed, 5G focuses on higher capacity allowing higher number of broadband users per area unit and allowing consumption of higher or unlimited data quantities in gigabyte per month. This would make it feasible for higher number of people to stream HD videos online, when out of reach of Wi-Fi hotspots. 5G research aims on better Device-to-Device communication and at a lower cost and lower latency than 4G equipments also with a lower battery consumption.
As technology is growing day by day in the world, it requires faster and more efficient data transfer system or network and 5G promises to deliver that, the speed is said to be much higher than 4G networks. It will also come with "Ultra Broadband" and Internet of Things (IoT)support.
(What is Internet of Things?
The Internet of Things is a system of interrelated computing devices, mechanical and digital machines, objects, animals or people with unique identifiers with the ability to transfer data over a network without human-to-human or human-to-computer interaction.
An IoT can be a man with a heart monitor implant, an automobile with built in sensors, a man made object that can be assigned with an IP address.)
Nokia and Orange have partnered up to develop the future 5G mobile network system. There are applications that need high bandwith like 8K video streaming, VR gaming, Augmented Reality (AR) etc. Nokia and Orange are planning for new frequency bands to build on the current 4.5G and soon to be deployed 4.9G networks, which is to have 1GB/sec peak speeds. 90 customers have deployed 4.5G and 4.5G pro is coming with 10 times the speed of 4G and 4.9G later with a promise to give us several gigabits per second peak speed and then 5G. Samsung has its own plans for 5G with T-Mobile.
5G will come with data rates of megabits per second for tens of thousands of users, data rates of 100 megabits per second for metropolitan areas, 1GB/sec simultaneously to many office workers on the same office floor, 10 GB/sec peak speed, improved coverage, enhanced signaling efficiency, several hundreds of thousands of simultaneous connections for massive wireless sensor network.
5G is a big upgrade that is coming in the future and it will change the way we use technology and the way we transfer data over a wireless network. It is said to be deployed in 2020.
