APPLE INDIA
We all know that PM Narendra Modi and Apple's CEO Tim Cook had a discussion about the make in india project for manufacturing apple products, especially IPhones. Though, the indian smartphone market is currently being dominated by samsung and other smaller smartphone manufacturers like Xiaomi, Oppo, Oneplus etc, Tim Cook has shaken his hands with the PM to make the "Make in India" plan successful after observing the smartphone market.
The real question is, what benefits are the average Indian consumers will get with this decision? well, Cook promised much cheaper smartphones for the Indian market although there was a news that those IPhones are going to be refurbished IPhones, not new and untouched, though this information is not fully accurate. Apple said that they would start their manufacturing in the southern Indian technology hub of Bangaluru from the month of April this year and the first smartphone is going to be the IPhone SE. Apple planned to initially assemble 300,000 to 400,000 iPhone SE handsets in India. There are no further news about this project from Apple.
We all know that the smartphone market is dominated by Samsung and other Chinese companies mentioned above and a vast majority of their smartphones are being sold at the price below Rs 20,000 ($320). The question still remains, after all the effort of PM Narendra Modi and Cook's partnership, will the plan be successful? Still, we are excited to see what apple is going to offer India's E-Consumer market which has a huge consumer base for smartphones.
